History and architecture

Cal Batlle de La Cortinada is one of the few buildings form the 16 th century that are preserved in Andorra

Staying at Cal Batlle is to rest in a manor house rehabilitated during the years 2013-14 and that has more than 500 years of history.
It is a unique building, an example of Andorran vernacular architecture, included in the general inventory of the Cultural Heritage of Andorra as an immovable property.

Original constructive characteristics are preserved such as the two “festejadores” in the Estanyó room, one of the oldest elements of the house, also the bell of the chimney of the old original ground fire (the same structure as the Casa de la Vall) or the oven where the bread was baked, which is also an outstanding element of the history of the house.

Despite contemporary interventions, the character and authenticity of the house as an example of traditional Andorran architecture has not been erased.
